Make a Penholder for Your Moleskine

Moleskine’s are great tools, but to use one, you need a pen. Sadly, Moleskine’s do not come with pen holders. You do have the option to buy a Moleskine pen (which I will review), but you can also make a quick and easy penholder. Read how below.

Image guide (click to make larger)

You need 5 things:

  • Moleskine
  • The pen you want to use
  • Some card (or hard paper)
  • Sticky tape
  • Scissors

Firstly, see how big you pen is. Put the card around the pen, making sure you are able to slip the pen in and out.

Once you have the size right, stick down the excess card. Now you have a hoop for the pen. Make sure that it won’t break in two seconds. Then, put the pen holder over the back pocket, which, of course, is at the back of the Moleskine. Fold the excess card or paper into the back pocket. If there is still some card left, you can fold it over again in the back of the notebook. If you want to make sure the pen holder doesn’t move, you can tape it down (or use blue tack) but this can damage the back pocket.

Tada! A pen holder! I hoped you enjoyed this guide!

Pokémon Go announced in the Pokémon Press Conference

Pokémon Go has just been announced at the Pokémon Press Conference. It is planned to be released in 2016. It will be free to play, but of course, will feature in-app purchases.

In Pokémon Go, you use you phone to find Pokémon where you live. Watch the video above to see more.

You can purchase an extension called the Pokémon Go Plus; this is a device that connects via Blue Tooth with Pokemon Go and notifies you of what’s happening around you in the game via LED lights.

That’s all that was announced in the Conference (sadly no main game).

I can’t wait to download and try it out!

TCG: Fly to the Top with Flying Pikachu

Pikachu is one of the most loved Pokémon. But who can beat a flying Pikachu?

Flying Pikachu comes from Platinum—Rising Rivals, and is Rare Halo. It is # 113/200.

One of the things many Pokémon players will know is that Pikachu has rubbish stats; Pikachu has 40 HP and costs one energy to retreat. It has a resistance of -30 damage against Fighting type attacks.

> Moves

Pikachu has two moves; Thundershock and Fly. Thundershock does 10 damage. If you flip a coin, if heads, your opposing Pokémon is now paralyzed.
Pikachu’s next move is Fly; this does 30 damage, but only if you get heads when you flip a coin. If you get a tails, the attack does nothing. If you flip heads, you do 30 damage to the other Pokémon, and any attacks or effects done to Flying Pikachu the next turn have no effect.
Flying Pikachu has a pretty good moveset, but its HP lets it down. If you want, you can try one out in your deck and see how it goes!

The Moleskine Voyageur: A Perfect Travel Companion

The Moleskine Voyageur is a great notebook to record your travels. It is very durable and is the right size to be both useful and portable. It can be bought for $24.95 (£19.99) off the Moleskine Store.

As with most Moleskine notebooks, the packaging has a ‘B-Side’. On this Moleskine, it has ‘I am here’ on the B-Side. The idea is the you take a photo with it, tag it with #m_ iamhere, and share it on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Google+.

At the front of the notebook it has travel information, such as your details, emergency numbers and time zones. One of the first things that you might notice is that it has 3 bookmarks. You use these bookmarks for each of the paper sections; lined paper, dotted paper and plain paper.
I use the lined pages for travel info and writing up what I did. I use the dotted pages for places to see, eat, etc. I also use it to draw the local area in a map. I stick the MSK templates and other things which need sticking into the blank section.

At the back of the notebook, you can find detachable packing and todo lists. The notebook also comes with stickers, which you can peel off and stick anywhere.
The MSK is a digital tool Moleskine has designed which allows you to convert websites to fit into your Moleskine. Simply copy the URL into the box (see below) and then choose what format you want, and what image you want it to show, and then print it and stick it in your Moleskine.

The Moleskine Voyageur is a great tool for traveling, in which you can record your experiences, track your packing and travels, and much more. I would definitely recommend that you take a look at one and purchase it, if you travel quite a bit. Even if you don’t travel, the combination of lined, dotted and plain paper can mean that it is still a worth the while purchase for you. You can get it of the official Moleskine Store here.

Must Have Items for the Pokémon League

The Pokémon League is the last chapter in the game. Knowing what to bring can be the difference between victory or defeat.

The Pokémon League in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

The Champions highest level Pokémon is Lvl. 59, so you want all your Pokémon to be at Lvl. 65 or above. During the battles, you will get lots of XP points, so if you lose a battle, don’t power off.

You will battle the Elite Four before he Champion, and you will not be able to go to a Pokémon Centre to heal your Pokémon. Therefore, you want to be well kitted out so that you can heal your Pokémon between battles. You want:

  • At least 20 Full Heals
  • Over 15 Super Potions
  • 10 revives
  • 8 Elixirs or Max Elixirs
  • Make sure every Pokémon has an appropriate item
Remember to save after you have defeated the Pokémon League!

  • Maximum stats are calculated with 252 EVs, IVs of 31, and a helpful nature, if applicable.
  • This Pokémon’s  Special  base stat in Generation I was 50.

     – Suggested moveset

  • Will-O-Wisp
  • Flare Blitz
  • Morning Sun
  • Wild Charge
Flare Blitz is Growlithe’s best attack, but remember that it has 1/3 recoil. Wild Charge has 1/4 recoil and is an Electric type move, so it can hit Water types for super-effective damage. Don’t use either of these moves if Growlithe is low on health. Morning Sun will allow Growlithe to recover health, and works well, but keep in mind that it is unreliable under other weather conditions.

     – Type defenses

If your Growlithe has the Flash Fire ability, Fire type moves have no effect.
All in all, Growlithe is a very good Pokémon, and is a great addition to your team.

Gym in the Spotlight: Lavaridge Town

Lavaridge Town gym is a Fire type gym, so you want Water, Ground and Rock type Pokémon.

The Lavaridge Town gym is located in the mountainside town of Lavaridge Town. The puzzle of the gym is to go through two separate floors to reach the Gym Leader.

> Flannery

Slugma (Lvl. 26) – Fire
Numel (Lvl. 26) – Fire / Ground
Torkoal (Lvl. 28) – Fire
Use a water Pokémon to take out Numel, as the moves will be 4x effective. The entire team tries to use Sunny Day throughout the battle, which will weaken Water type moves whilst strengthening Fire type moves, so you want to take out the Pokémon quickly so that they do not use it. Use Water, Rock or Ground moves to take out Slugma and Torkoal.
