Chipolo recently released an updated version of their Chipolo Classic model, with a longer battery life whilst still using the same low-cost battery that the older Chipolo Classic’s used to use. You can also get the Chipolo in six new colours, so that they are easy to spot and easier to distinguish in the app.
I’ve already reviewed the Chipolo Plus, a waterproof Chipolo and you can check out the review here. If you want to find out more about the Chipolo app and features like community search, check that post out. Let’s take a look at the features of the new Chipolo Classic.
First, the Chipolo Classic now has 9 months of battery life, instead of the 6 months that it previously had. It still uses the same CR2025 that you can pick up from nearly every shop in the world for a very low price. This is great for people who don’t want to spend lots of money on maintaining their Chipolo, and the fact that the battery is replaceable and lasts for such a long time is the reason that I like the Classic so much.
A significant change that I also noticed was that now the Chipolo’s have a new button inside. This is used to call your phone from the Chipolo, and instead of just pressing on the Chipolo like you did before on the Classic, there is an actual button and it’s really nice to feel the Classic respond.
The Classic also comes in six different colours, including green, blue, yellow, red, and the standard black and white. This is great as it’s a lot easier to see the Chipolo’s visually, and on the app it’s easier to differ which one is which.
Adding the Chipolo’s is easy and simple – simply take them out of the packaging, and tap the plus button in the Chipolo app. This allows you to press the Chipolo and add it. I will say that I found it took a little longer to pair them with my phone than it did with the previous ones, but that may not be the Chipolo’s fault. Once I had them paired, I could attach them to things I didn’t want to lose, and ring them from my phone and ring my phone from them.
If you can’t find your phone, you might be wondering how to call it or Chipolo’s. This has been thought of too – you can access them all from the web app, which you can access here. You can see all last known locations, and even post a message on your phone if you want. You can even see your phone’s battery from the web app.
So, the new Chipolo Classic is a great buy. For 25€ you can get a single Chipolo Classic, or for free shipping and to save a great deal of money, you can pick up a 4 pack for 75€. 6 packs are also available.
